Each
week, the Stanley plant in Tupelo electronically receives Excel
spreadsheets with Corporate generated production requirements for
each day by part number within product class. Stanley was
using an obsolete DOS labeling program with multiple databases.
The quantity and type of UPC and ITF labels required for each part
number were "known" by personnel printing the labels.
Training new personnel was difficult and the correct labels were
not available when needed.
Corner
Office developed a label requirements generation application with
a single database and introduced Loftware for label printing.
The new application automatically reads the Excel spreadsheets and
generates the requirements for the right labels at the right time.
Training is now simplified and label status is visible from any PC
on the network.
