Corner
Office teamed with ACCRAPLY, Canada to design and implement a
labeling Middleware application to drive ACCRAPLY print and apply
units at Philips Lighting.
This
Philips plant has three case packing units to package lamps. Each
case packer supports two lamp production lines. The case packer
PLC "pulls" lamps from one of the two production lines
at random. With previous manual labeling of each case, both
production lines had to run the same product on a case packer.
Now,
the Philips shop order for each line is setup in the Corner Office
Middleware application. As the case packer pulls lamps for
packaging, the PLC sends a signal to the middleware PC indicating
which line was "selected". The middleware then sends the
required label to the ACCRAPLY print and apply unit for label
printing and application on the case.
The
Middleware software also automatically provides Philips production
management with on-line product counts by shift and line.
