Air Bag Labeling (Florida Production Engineering)
|
FPE manufactures automotive air bags. Each bag requires a label with a complex 11-character bar code. Each character is significant. For example: Character #6 is the day number 1 - 9, 10 = A, 11 = B, etc., skipping the letters I, O and Q. Each bar code includes a serial identification. Corner Office designed a middleware application that minimizes the operator's data entry and correctly generates the required 11-character bar code.
Each label is triggered when the operator places their thumbs into a sensor. The sensor is connected to a digital I/O board on the PC. Middleware then sends the required label data to a network-based Loftware LPS application. LPS generates the label to a SATO CL412E in the manufacturing cell.
