Bailey Manufacturing, Forrestville, NY, is a 60 person company that makes a variety of parts for GM and Delphi.
Both GM and Delphi have complex compliance labeling requirements. The product container, pallet and mixed pallets must have a customer defined set of labels. The GM label includes a complex PDF-417 bar code. GM and Delphi deliver strong supplier penalties for incorrect labeling.
Bailey labeling was being done using two older label design programs. Templates were scattered on various PCs. The operators had direct access to the label templates and were required to keyboard most of the data.
Corner Office developed a user-friendly LabelView interface that incorporates an Access Database with Product, Location, Reference and Operator Tables. The operators now simply select options from the interface to print labels. Keyboarding data is eliminated. The application is networked with all of the templates and a single interface program stored on one PC. Operator labeling activity is now tracked in the database.
