Production Line Labeling (American Pharmaceutical Partners)

APP produces a variety of vial based pharmaceutical products. Their production lines print a label on each shrink-wrapped tray of vials and then a corner-wrapped case label when the trays are packaged for shipment. APP decided to investigate new print-and-apply equipment and a CFR 21 Part 11 compliant Middleware application for a new production line. Corner Office worked with a number of APP personnel to develop a Middleware interface that would provide the ease-of-use, controls, and transaction tracking desired. One PC on each line controls both printers.
Future plans call for converting the other production lines to use the new Middleware application and consideration of one-to-one labeling vs. the current batch labeling process.
