hand-held data collection device, with an integrated bar code
scanner, is loaded with the current dock and in-plant location
codes for each customer. A fork truck operator keys the
customer ID and scans the shipping labels on a pallet. A
battery powered thermal printer, connected to the data collection
device, then prints a small label with the current codes.
This label is affixed to the shipping label to insure that the
latest dock codes are correctly reflected.
The information in the data collection device is then downloaded to a
PC to create the shipping manifests for each load to a specific
customer.
